The polytechnic was named after the two chief patrons Sri. Adsumilli Aswardha Narayana Murthy (AANM) and Sri.Valluripalli Venkata Rama Seshadri Rao (VVRSR).

Sri AANM was a prominent personality of Gudlavalleru for nearly half a century. He was the sarpanch of Gudlavalleru when it got the All India Best Panchayet Award in 1972-73. He had been the unanimous president of the Land Mortgage Bank for over thirty years. He was the founder secretary of the sixty year old S.E.R.M Educational Society which has been running a high school, a junior college and a degree college with P.G. courses. This multifaceted personality, Sri AANM established AANM & VVRSR Educational Society with himself as the Founder President in a devoted zeal to carve a niche for Gudlavalleru in the arena technical education of Andhra Pradesh and India as well. |

Sri VVR Seshadri Rao was another prominent personality of Gudlavalleru, well known as a successful Rice-miller. He joined Sri AANM in the cause of technical education as a co-chief patron and the founder Secretary of the Society with a vision, practical outlook and efficient management. Sri VVRSR has been the guiding force to keep the polytechnic in the front rank over the last twenty five years. He has been fondly called the Father of Gudlavalleru Engineering College since 1998. |

The Polytechnic was located in Gudlavalleru, a well known village just 25 Kms away from the District Head quarters MACHILIPATNAM and 12 Kms away from the Revenue Division Head quarters GUDIVADA. The Village Gudlavalleru is a Mandal Head quarters on the District highway between Machilipatnam and Gudivada. It is linked both ways by bus and railways..
Gudlavalleru got the All India Best Panchayat award in 1972-73 on the Strength of its people being consciously involved in Self employment activities. The Village has a State wide reputation as a pioneer in rice mill, diary and poultry industries for over a century. Gudlavalleru has developed into a hub of education, both general and technical for the last six decades.
